One Response to “Outcome 2: demonstrate an understanding of the interconnectedness, difference, and diversity that are central to operating in a global society.”

  1. Cynthia Lum says:

The difficulty with Objectives 1 and 2 will be in what can be generally pulled from the majority of classrooms that could be used to assess each of these items. I feel these objectives are abstract and need to be more concrete in their wording and intent. For example :

Objective 1 seems very vague to me. I’m actually not sure what it is pointing to, and therefore, I would be at a loss in terms of presenting proof from my course that I achieved this objective. Perhaps there is a way to combine Objective 1 and 2 into a concrete objective that would be clear enough to the instructor who needs to identify what they are doing in their class to achieve this?

Perhaps the creators of these two objectives were trying to find a way to assess if instructors were teaching some method by which global understanding and comparisons could be made? In other words, is the goal here similar to Objective 2 in the Social and behavioral sciences blog?

On that note, do folks think that the objectives should be roughly similar (in spirit and method, I understand not in content) as the social and behavioral science objectives?
